Limestone Coast is famous for its red wine and red rock lobster.  Located in the middle of Adelaide to Melbourne route, it’s dotted with vineyards, gum trees, and a sweeping view of the coast and pine plantations. If you’re going in July, attend the Cellar Dwellers event and drink some of the world’s best wines at Coonawarra.  You can also experience the best food and beverage of the region by going on the Limestone Coast Wine and Food Trail.

In the Mt Gambier area, extinct volcanos left picture-perfect parklands and lakes.  You can stay in a 19th century hotel and check out the area’s craters, walks, caves, craft outlets, and calleries.  The Naracoorte Caves are a must-see for adventure seekers; you can’t miss out on the huge fossils that prove the existence of massive prehistoric mammals in Australia.  You can also take a trek to the mysterious Mt. Gambier Blue Lake, which turns a lovely shade of turquoise every summer.
