New South Wales is a very diverse state that’s also home to the country’s most cosmopolitan city, Sydney. In the city there are five World Heritage sites that are worth checking out, including the Sydney Opera House. Surrounding the city is a myriad of national parks, mountains, forests, and ancient river valleys. World Heritage sites at the outskirts of the city include Mungo National Park, Blue Mountains Area, Lord Howe Island, and the Gondwana Rainforests. Each location offers travelers and tourists the unique opportunity to experience natural beauty, a wide range of leisure activities, and historical places like ancient burial sites.
