Tasmania is separated from the Australian mainland by the 240-kilometer Bass Strait. This gorgeous state is a green island of beautiful landscapes, temperate climate, friendly people, and a creative artists community. More than 40% of the island are protected World Heritage Area. Tasmania is so small that you can walk through a green alpine meadow in the morning and end up in a tropical white sand beach by the afternoon. Besides seeing the natural beauty of the place, many travelers come to this state to enjoy its cultural offerings. Despite having a small population of 500,000, Tasmania supports many cultural festivals and a world-class orchestra.
